A more sophisticated location to enjoy with friends and family. I do have a favorite waitress who seems to be in high demand. Bamba offers a finer dining experience and menu...without draining your wallet. Sit back, don't be rushed and enjoy the elements of this fine historic venue!
it used to be better. This place used to be a lot better. It lost a lot in the last round of renovations. Staff seemed bored, food paled in comparison to other places of the same price range. Won't be back.
surprise, suprise, suprise (and not a good one). I noticed 2 things here.....the food was barely passable and the staff unprofessional. I only recommend this place to men who want a bartender that passes you her home phone number. Definitely not a place for women to take their spouses. I expected much more from a "high end" restaurant. Don't waste your time or money.
Don't Be Afraid to Ask for the Head Chef!. I was on a business trip and passed by Rio Bamba several times before making that fateful decision to stop in on my last night in town (09/28/2006.) What a mistake that was. I do admit that we were seated very quickly but our waiter who seemed as if he were rambling off the preamble to the constitution when giving us the specials was a mess. Drink refills were not prompt. The pesky fly that was buzzing around our table made my stomach turn. And the flank steak I ordered on special could have used at least a grain or two of salt. I'm not sure if our unhappy whispers made it to the restaurant management, but when she appeared at our table and expected a response while I was chewing my bland dinner, I quickly sealed the deal on my overall opinion of Rio Bamba. In Summary: OVERPRICED, UNDER SEASONED, PRENTENTIOUS "FRENCH BISTRO".
A bit much. The last time I was in this place, it seemed like there was a ton of waitstaff just standing around most of the time. The food was very very good, but the service was painfully unattentive and impersonal, and I preferred the building prior to it's last renovation, it ws much more colorful & homey. Its too beautiful & interesting a space for it's new "bare" decor. Although happy with the food, I was not satisfied with the overall experience. The romance that used to be so loved in this place is gone, and the prices have skyrocketed.
