DO NOT SHOP HERE. DON'T SHOP HERE! We bought a pair of diamond earrings here in May. Paid $1600 for them - and within five months the screw on the post was stripped, making them unsafe to wear. We took them into the store and were told we'd have to pay to have them fixed, since we didn't pay $150 for their jewelry protection plan when we bought them. I've been wearing earrings for over thirty years and have NEVER had an issue with a post, so we didn't pay the extra money for their special plan (since they told us the diamonds themselves were covered for life). They sell inferior goods at inflated prices - and then want more money for you to make their inferior product right. When we told our 21 year old son the story, he said "What do you expect going into a chain store like that?" I wish we would've been as smart as our kid is! Needless to say, we'll NEVER shop here again, and would advise other people to stay away, too. I would give less than one star if I could ...
If "He went to Jared" you have crappy jewelry. My boyfriend bought me a chocolate diamond for Christmas. This was our first and last experience with the big advertiser. The ring was 2 sizes too small because they only carry fat girl sizes. We took it into get sized. They said it would take 10 weeks which sucks, but it really took 12! And after that you would think they would try to apologize...nope they just tried to sell us more..really no thanks...and to top it off I have only had it a week and lost a diamond! I am not rough on jewely. Their stuff is crap DO NO GO THERE. They have bad jewely and horrible help.
AWFUL!!!. If I could give zero stars for a rating, believe me I would. I have had to take my engagement ring in to Jared for repairs 5 times since September (when I got the ring)...It is now February and I have to go back at least once more. My diamond was loose after about the 3rd week of having the ring. I took it in to be tightened. A week later, it was loose again. Their solution was to replace the head, which they did. I went in to pick it up, and the diamond was still loose and "jingling" even worse than before I took it in. I told them it was still jingling and they took it back to be tightened again (which was 2 more hours). After tightening it again, the jeweler proceeds to tell me that the head is wrong...it's for a round diamond (I have a princess cut). The jeweler didn't bother to tell me this when they were going to send me on my way with still a loose diamond. Not to mention, the head they replaced was identical to the new one, meaning BOTH heads had been wrong...they put the wrong head on there from the beginning. I called customer service about this issue to figure out what to do. They said they would replace the head but it would change the look of my initial ring (meaning, sentimental value would go way down). Customer service told me that I HAD to replace it, otherwise, they wouldn't honor the "lifetime guarantee" warranty on the diamond. I was very reluctant and wanted to see the new head and compare it to mine before they replaced the head. They allowed me to do so. I talked to the jeweler about the pros/cons of putting on the new head. He informed me that there wouldn't be much of a difference at all in the "jingling" or looseness of the diamond once the head was replaced. So, bottom line, I'm forced to do this to honor the diamond warranty at the expense of losing the original look of my ring and gaining absolutely nothing. The jeweler assured me that it's in good hands and he will get it as close as possible to the original look. Still a little reluctant (I didn't trust these people), I agreed. Now, I regret that decision. In the midst of replacing the head, the jeweler chipped my diamond. To make matters worse, they acted as if I had done it. The manager called and asked me "did you know your diamond was chipped?" which immediately made me mad. Little did they know at the time, I had my inspection done on my ring just 5 minutes before they took it back for repair (in their store!) in which the lady remarked that the ring was "good" and documented this on my inspection report. No chips reported at that time. I informed the manager that I was about 45 minutes away but wanted to come and talk with her about the next step in repairs. It was 3:30 and she stated that she could stay at the store until 4:20 and then she had to walk out the door. My fiance and I hurried to get there. We arrived at 4:05 and the manager was gone. Already frustrated, we talked to the assistant manager, who was very condescending and rude. She kept saying "diamonds chip, that happens" and yes I understand that, but it wasn't chipped earlier that day, and I can't stand when people do not own up to their mistakes. She said "diamonds chip. jewelers are human." That's it...no apology, nothing. The jeweler saw me and didn't come out to talk to me...instead he cowered in a corner. Now, the lifetime guarantee of the diamond states that they have to give me a diamond of "equal or better" specifications. They offered me a bigger carat (only slightly), same grade and clarity. However, the dimensions of the diamond are much smaller, making it a deep diamond, not a wide one, which makes it look tiny. The whole company seems kind of sketchy, but the Rochester, NY store in particular is horrible.
Jared: The Galleria of Thieves.. Although the initial experience is good, Jared lacks much in follow up customer service and borders on criminal. We followed our warrenty regulations fully and Jared sent our ring in to be fixed. When it was returned, it was an entirely different ring, the carats, the size of occlusion, everything. Now they won't help us get the original back and are dragging their feet to fix their mistake. It makes me wonder how many people they have stolen from.
