Snotty cook, abysmal food. My scallops were undercooked, so I asked the server to have the cook throw them back on the fire for a bit longer. Because I really hate doing that, I watched her communicate with the cook who scrunched her face and said, with tons of attitude, something along the lines of, "I don't know what she's talking about - it's cooked." Well, after 5 minutes, the scallops returned not having changed one bit. The same pale purple, gelatinous insides were gleaming at me on the plate. Had they been fresh, I wouldn't have minded, but they were obviously not, so they needed to be properly cooked. Also, the bacon that was wrapped around the asparagus on the side was rubbery. I will not be returning.…
Simple Rochestarian. I response to Mark Strickland. I have visited Vento?s several times and have always enjoyed the food and the service. I have read your review on several sites and find them to be absolutely absurd. Obviously you have never traveled outside of Rochester because adding gratuity is common practice all over the country, and in fact all over the world. Also in regard to adding a third chair to a table for two may actually be against fire codes.…
I don't agree with either of the other reviews!!! I love Veneto, very nice down to earth people. The food is amazing, everyone can have a bad experience somewhere. Also, 20% gratuity is standard these. I don't agree with either of the other reviews!!! I love Veneto, very nice down to earth people. The food is amazing, everyone can have a bad experience somewhere. Also, 20% gratuity is standard these days and it shouldn't be argued with. 7 people is a large party and is difficult to serve well! Don't go out if you don't want to tip. That is not an upcharge its standard…
Good Food, Horrible Service.
Incident #1: It's a shame -I like the food very much. Once I was having dinner with a friend at a small table. We were surprised by a visit from another friend, but the restaurant would neither get
him a chair nor get us a different table. He ended up leaving.
Incident #2: The restaurant added a 20% Gratuity to our bill, even though we only had a party of seven.
I have never heard of seven people being considered a "large party". This charge upset everyone at our table.
After my guests had all left, I re-entered the restaurant to inquire why this charge was on our bill.
Instead of speaking with me or reasoning with me, I was simply asked to leave.
The following day I called and asked to speak with Tracy, the Restaurant Manager. She said that the gratuity was their standard practice. The manager further explained that there is a lot more work for a large party and a major inconvenience for the kitchen and wait staff. It was a burdon to take care of a table of seven people and we were to be up-charged for their having to endure this situation. I was then informed that we were no longer welcomed at Venetos.…
good food, questionable staff. i don't mind waiting for good food, but the staff should be a little more accomodating to the fact that people will be hanging around for two hours and not be so exasperated. the food is good, but i don't think i'd wait for it again when there are plenty of other nice italian places to go where the staff seems more capable.…
