Hotel ICON - One of the nation's oldest skyscrapers.
My husband and I stayed at Hotel ICON a few weeks ago and it was amazing. Aside from the fact that this hotel is one of the nation's oldest skyscrapers, it is also one of Houston's oldest landmark buildings, having first been built in the early part of the 20th century as a bank.
The architectural details in the hotel are absolutely wonderful as they have maintained every last bit of original design as they could and it shows from the original bank vault behind the front desk, to the original mirrors that adorn the old fashioned elevators.
The rooms are impeccably clean and imitate French style but what is truly breathtaking is the night time view of downtown that you can get from your windows.
The staff is absolutely wonderful and knowledgeable.
The hotel also offers a free shuttle service that takes you anywhere within a 3 mile radius of the hotel - and the service is quick - you usually get picked up within 10 minutes or less of calling the driver. Definitely a great place to go for a staycation or quiet getaway, or simply a great place to stay if you are going to a Downtown event.
Pleased. The concierge was wonderful and offered to go very far out of her way to make us comfortable. Beautiful hotel. I look forward to going back.
Perfect getaway for couples of friends.
The hotel staff was absolutely wonderful. They were very welcoming and very nice. I was blown away by the size of the room. The decor was amazing, and they really pay attention to detail. The bathroom was beautiful, and the toiletries were nice too.
The only downside is that parking overnight is $27, but the valet service were very helpful and nice--even if that meant running to my car at 3am to get a bag of candy! YES, they are wonderful.
Comes w/ a great restaurant, bar, concierge service, and good location--restaurants right outside of your door.
