Charlies Frog Pond and Jines. I think sweetbella is living in another world, as always with some younger people who have never worked in a food service establishment they have a warped view of how things are. I love the "Frog Pond" good food with average prices and real servers with real life experiences. And to respond to other person saying that jines sells sandwichs that are $20 is really outlandish. I have eaten there also for under $10 including a drink. Many people have to start thinking more objectively and stop being so selfish.

A must-try restaurant. If you are looking for a place to eat and have never been to Charlie's, do yourself a favor and check it out. It is a very small place with unique decor (frog-oriented, go figure) and a fantastic menu. The choices are plentiful yet not overwhelming. The FRITATTA is an absolute classic. A huge amount of food, enough for two in some cases, with eggs, peppers, potato and onion cooked into a loose omelette served with toast. As far as the other entry about how the door was shut in their face, try not going there minutes before closing and expecting fresh staff that is willing and wanting to serve one more group after a full day. Seriously, don't discount the place. I have been a patron since I was a kid and my parents used to take my sister and me there for something special. As far as Jines right next door...WAY too "trendy", even for Park Ave. Also, since when did being "trendy" mean you can charge $20.00 for a sandwich lunch?

Rude staff. I went to this restaurant several times because it was cheap and relatively quick (most of the time - slower service when it gets crowded.) However, one night I arrived with three other people 25 minutes before closing time and as I tried to open the door, one of the staff ran over and pulled the door shut and shouted "we're closing!" I pointed to the sign with the hours and and said we had a half hour and were only looking for a quick bite, and this apparently angered him because he shouted louder "CLOSED!" and locked the door right in our faces. We were all so stunned! So, we've eaten our last meal at this place. There are plenty of cheap, good places nearby (Jines, right next door, for one) where the staff is ALWAYS pleasant and helpful and actually wants customers to eat in their restaurant.

Great food at a great price. Charlie's Frog Pond was one of the first restaurants I ate at when I came to Rochester. My mother took me because she remembered loving the food when she went to school here, and it was wonderful! The breakfast/brunch choices are amazing, and you can't beat the price. The indoor and outdoor seating are both quirky and fun. A great value for great food!
