One of my favorite diners in Rochester

I've been to James Brown's Place many times over the years and I've always had a good experience. The food is really good, the prices are reasonable, the service is friendly and the atmosphere is very congenial. On warm-weather Friday nights, James serves dinner and there's some outdoor seating. James is a great guy; he's very friendly and has a good sense of humor. He's also very generous.
- Pros: Everything
- Cons: The rest room is down a long/steep flight of steps
Hearty, fun and classic good food!

My husband first had breakfast with friends after an early round of golf. The next day he ran me down to James Brown's proclaiming that it is the best breakfast he's had. My husband was a Kodak executive who has travelled around the world. His promise was all I needed to hear in order to get me in the car and head into the city for Sunday brunch. He was right! We love the pan fried grits, the amazing omlettes/frittatas and mouth watering pancakes. The minute we walked into James Brown's place it felt as if we merged into a new community of friends. We were greeted promptly and immediately became part of a conversation amoung patrons and staff. We laughed, conversed and ate as if we were with family. We learned that not only the breakfast entre's have something for everyone, but they also serve home cooked BBQ and comfort food for lunch and dinner. I can't wait for this summer, when James will be catering his famous BBQ in our back yard for our friends to share. If you haven't tried James Brown's Place for breakfast, lunch nor dinner, you are missing an experience you will want to relive again and again. What are you waiting for? Get down to James Brown's Place, you won't be sorry!!
- Pros: Food, Comfortable, Engaging
- Cons: Stuffed when I left!!!
A Rochester Legend!

James Brown is definitely an exceptional, one-of-a-kind guy, and his restaurant is exactly that as well. Start your day early with a hearty breakfast, grab lunch, or sit outside and have an awesome dinner with family and friends at this outstanding american diner. You will not only leave with a full stomach (portions are generous!), but you will also leave feeling like James is your new best-friend. The personality and the original cuisine make James Brown's place a true Rochester legend.
Everything's great, but you must try the Stuffed French Toast or the Legends Ribs.
- Pros: Atmosphere, Menu, Service
- Cons: It ALL looks good!
