Filthy Dirty and Disgusting Food

Not even 1 star does this place deserve. We held my mother's 80th birthday there yesterday. The place was filthy dirty both inside and out. The food was disgusting beyond belief and almost unedible....the bisque (if that is what it is called) was devoid of any seafood whatsoever, the broccoli was much, the pasta stuck toegther like it was days old, the chicken all pasty and gooey. The fruit didn't look healthy and the cheescake (unrefridgerated) was left out for hours on end in the heat! I remember how beautiful this place was years ago and it is sad to think what it has become. We have spent many a hundreds of dollars there throughout the years, but this restaurant has now seen my last dollar! IT is a miracle that they haven't been reported to the board of health!

Sorry We Went

The dining experience my family and I had at The Crescent Beach this past Mother's Day was truly abysmal. To add insult to injury, a letter I wrote to the owner/manager and sent the next day went completely unresponded to. Besides the 45 minute wait for a table we had reserved over a week in advance, the editing--severely--of the buffet menu from when we had been there on Grandparents' Day (no crab legs, no roast pork, no chocolate fountain, no dessert bar, no complimentary champagne), the food that ran out and was never refilled, BESIDES all that, they raised the regular price of the buffet by seven dollars a head and added a twenty percent gratuity ON TOP OF THE TAX. In my letter I pointed out that in the first place, the service was terrible. We only saw our waiter twice, and the second time he dumped coffee all over the table. In the second place, twenty percent is the amount you tip for a sit down dinner with exemplary service, not a self-serve buffet. And finally you NEVER figure in a gratuity AFTER you add the tax. Four adults and three tiny children six and under generated a bill just short of $200--with the $32 "tip," of course. Oh, and the food was mediocre; the wait in line was long; and the buffet only rarely (no pun intended) had roast beef on it--we had to make four trips down from the mezzanine to finally "score" a slice. Their site says the brunch menu "differs" on holidays from the regular buffet. It sure does, but I would have thought that meant it was more special--not far inferior and far more expensive. I made all of these points in my unanswered letter, and that lack of a response was the final disappointment. The Crescent Beach chose to exploit an important holiday and ignore a customer complaint, and that's just bad business. We definitely won't return, not even on non-holidays, and it's only five minutes from our home.
