A Complete Disaster. I went to Rochester on business and decided to try this place out. I love chinese food and it was right across the street from my hotel. I placed a very simple order and decided to take it back to my room. I was told I had to wait about 20 minutes. 20 turned to 40 which slowly and painfully turned to over 60. I had to wait over an hour for Kung Pao Shrimp and Vegetable Chow Mein.

As if that wasn't bad enough, I had placed an order for a few bottles of water upon my arrival. The host reached down behind the counter and gave me some warm bottles of water. I guess it was too much trouble to put them in the fridge when I arrived an hour earlier. When he realized this error, he tried selling me an already opened bottle of water from the fridge. I noticed the seal was broken but he quickly put it in my bag and sealed it up with a knot. I naturally opened the bag in front of him and pointed out that the bottle was used! I was beyond disgusted but he wasn't humiliated nearly enough. He just smiled and gave me another warm bottle.

I thought the nightmare was over once I brought the food back to my room but it was only getting worse. The Kung Pao shrimp was wet. Not damp as if it had been marinated in a rich sauce but wet as if someone had just taken a leak into the box. The noodles were completely flavorless and there were hardly any vegetables in the dish. I didn't even bother eating the food and threw it out. Thank God for room service and expense reports.

PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. YOU WILL LIVE TO REGRET IF IF YOU DINE HERE. It's not even clean and the decor is beyond depressing. The bar is not even stocked with alcohol.

Avoid this restaurant at all costs. Caution: don't go here!! I am new to Rochester and used the previous review to choose this restaurant as a birthday dinner for my mother. At least she is forgiving. We went at 8:00 at night, the bar was closed and they offered 4 of the 50 drinks on their menu. Then the beef teriyaki in our pu-pu platter was raw, and our lemon chicken had no sauce, and we received no appetizer or dinner plates. The waiter was unsympathetic to our complaints. This restaurant gets a 0.5 rating because at least we didn't get sick from what little we did eat, but in case this isn't clear enough, that's not a recommendation.

Great Place to dine everytime. I had an awesome experience at this place. Excellent couteous service in a lustrous environment given a rustic feel by wooden carvings and artistic touches. Food is great both at buffet as well as the menu which includes an array of flavorful Shanghai dishes. BBQ ribs, Mala Tofu, Seafood in garlic sauce are awesome.

Their second locale on Jefferson Blvd is another wonderful treat. Check out owner George's Tea Garden which gives you an authentic feel of dining in China. Artistic and flavorful. I wish Yangtze was in NYC where I live.

The place is a MUST EAT - dine in or take out.
