Just close up shop and give up. Your selection, salespeople, and general attitude bites. Clearly you are just a mafia front to launder money and not an authentic business.
I have no clue how this place stays in
business. For starters, the "reviewer" who commented that this place is not Target (I suspect that this reviewer works at Juliana's) is correct. I'm reasonably sure that at Target if a salesperson was as rude as they are at Juliana's then they'd get fired.
Juliana's sells sportswear and evening wear in addition to bridal wear. I just moved back to the Rochester area and needed a new dress to wear to a business function. I tried to go in to the shop in order to look at their selection. On their website they describe carrying St. John and Escada. They may carry it, but I'm not sure how they sell it.
I walked into the shop and was immediately told I was to make an appointment. I was confused because no where on the website or shop door did it say I needed an appointment to look at their non-bridal items. WTF? She went on a tirade about my rudeness for just walking in (the horror! walking into a shop wanting to buy something!!!) and made it clear that I did not look like the kind of people SHE would associate with! Yup, I wouldn't associate with an uneducated harpie who has no social skills like her so I guess we're even. Her behavior was amazing. I called the manager and left several nice messages explaining that the saleswoman was rude and barred my way into the shop. I got no response.
This was a few months ago. I moved to Rochester to be with my fiance who is a resident here. When my grandmother suggested we try Juliana's for a bridal gown I told her that I wouldn't go near the place. We have a budget of 5,000 for a dress and will not give a nickel of that business to Juliana's.
FYI, when I was in graduate school I spent several years working in a similar shop. We sold high end bridal gowns as well as bridesmaids and MOB gowns. We also sold evening gowns and accessories. Although we needed appointments for peak times we were never rude. And never ever did someone not looking at bridal gowns was not allowed to look at the dresses. WE only had to 'bar' people from the bridal gowns because there were so many of them in a small area. Otherwise everyone was welcome to come in and spend money. If anyone was rude to the customers and the manager heard about it we'd definitely get a talking to. And the manager would have responded to and apologized to the customer.
I will be shocked if this place is still in business a year or two from now. I'm just surprised that these rude people are still in business now.
Rude beyond belief.
I understand that an appointment is needed. But if a place doesn't return calls and you walk in to make an appointment and look around the MAIN sales floor which has evening gowns, and sportswear displayed you shouldn't be stopped at the door and treated like trash.
After trying to set up an appointment over the phone I walked in just to look around and make an appointment.
When we walked in a haughty woman basically stopped at the door and berated us for not making an appointment and gave us a hard time about looking at their sportswear and clearance dresses on the main floor. She must have said goodbye five times. I honestly just ignored her and kept looking just to annoy her. She told us that no she cannot make an appointment for us EVER. Seriously? I know why she had this attitude, because the I (the bride) am not skinny and statuesque like the women she was fawning over while she was rude to us. If I had any doubt of this it was confirmed with her comment that she didn't think they stocked dresses that would "suit my figure". After that she suggested I check out Jacqueline's instead but that they probably wouldn't be able to find a dress for me. Seriously, I'm a size 14, not a size 41.
Note to Juliana's. I might not have a perfect figure but I do have 2 master's degrees and a decent income. I was looking for a dress, 5 attendent's dresses, and 2 mother's dresses as well as a reception dress, engagement party dress, and rehearsal dinner dress. I think when all is said and done I'll be spending 8-10k. I guess my business isn't good enough for you so I'll take it elsewhere.
Great experience. I completely disagree with the negative reviews of Juliana's. Perhaps this had to do with the salespeople I worked with. Yes, I did have to put on slippers...but at an establishment that is trying to keep long dresses in great shape for the customers who try them on and buy them, that totally made sense to me. The saleswomen that worked with me were totally sensitive to my budget (which was, by the way, barely four digits) and devoted their full attention to helping me. I told them what I had in mind and they pulled out a number of dresses that fit that description. They took their time helping me try them on and were very patient when I was indecisive. We had visited 3 or 4 other bridal shops that day and our experience at Juliana's was far and away the best. I would recommend them, at least from this initial experience, without hesitation.
ITS NOT TARGET YOU KNOW. I hate to read such terrible reviews about a store that is obviously unique. If you expect to be treated as if you were at Target than you will be disappointed because these ladies actually know something about fashion. I love what they offer; one of a kind pieces that are of quality and taste. The problem is we usually don't expect to find such quality and style and when we do we don't know how to act. I see allot of people dress as if they are all going to the gym these days, instead of having pride in their appearance. If others felt like the sale people were rude then maybe they took it that way from the way the feel about themselves. This store has been in business more than 30 years and you don't stay that way by turning off customers. If you want a $300 bridal gown go somewhere that has them smooshed together a wall. Go to Juliana's for an experience. Appointments for a wedding gown is normal and that way they can tailor the visit to meet the brides expectations- its not an ordinary day you know, but obviously others are treating it as such. Again, its not Target, so good luck.
Terrible attitudes. As soon as we walked in we were blocked at the door by the sales woman who was not pleasant at all. She asked my mom and I in a snotty tone of voice if we had an appointment (we didn't). I told her I just wanted to look at her bridesmaid selection and that we don't need any help with trying anything on, but she refused to let us past the first set of stairs. She talked down to us like we had no money! I told her a few inappropriate thoughts of mine along with meantioning that they obviously don't need our business anyways. I do NOT recommend going here if you would like to be treated with genuine respect!
DO NOT SHOP HERE.
I went to literally every bridal store in the Rochester area and found this store to be the absolute worst. The sales woman, a tall slender red head, was extremely rude and unprofessional. She looked at my mother and me as if we were the maids and did not belong in her store. She would not even let me try on any gowns because she assumed I couldn't afford them!!! The treatment we received was absolutely terrible. I cannot believe a boutique like this even stays in business when they treat their customers with such disrespect.
Shopping for your wedding gown should be a fun experience. By going to this store I can assure you that your experience will not be fun. There are so many other wonderful stores in the area with just as nice of a selection. A store like this does not deserve to stay in business.
