GOUGES. Since I was in the mood for BBQ we decided to head to Beale's South Ave location for dinner. As luck would have it there was a special running that night; Pulled Pork with Habenero BBQ Sauce, Coleslaw on top and two sides, $15.99. My husband ordered the Jambalaya. To start the night we ordered Deep Fried Pickles and two cocktails. We ate our dinner, which was adequate, not great, like the food used to be there. Our bill came and we noticed I was charged $17.20 for my dinner. I questioned our waitress about the amount and she indicated "the extra charge was because you ordered sweet potato fries" I told her they were listed as a side item, just the the bbq baked beans I ordered. She said no there is an up charge for the sweet potato fries. I said the restaurant should really mention that in the menu. Her reply "I'll get right on that". Now mind you $1.21 isn't a huge amount but in this case it is more the point. There is NO mention of the up charge and frankly I got like 12 fries. Guess the name change was so the menu could be rewritten and prices increased (which we also noticed). That will be our last trip to "The Beale". I also e-mailed them directly to mention this....I got no response
The Best bar none!. BealeSt. Cafe offers the only true southern Que in all of Rochester. Others claim to but fail by offering a taste that is geared to the Northerner who has never had true southern cooking. If you have never had the chance to try Memphis style ribs this is your chance. You will not regret this expirience.
