Top Place to go in Rochester. That person that left the comment on 06/08 must work for another restaurant or something because they make no sense. I signed up an account JUST to tell you the truth about Phillips.

This is THE place to go in Rochester whether you want a romantic night out or a great place to bring your business clients! There's salads, pasta dishes, fancy dishes, more common, but whatever you do, save room for dessert! Trust me on that.

This is where we go for all our special events -- my mom's 50th b-day, our first wedding anniversary, going away lunches with co-workers. I've taken corporate clients here for business lunches, and everyone leaves happy. The staff are very friendly, and helpful if you are having trouble deciding what you want. Top notch!

Stay Away. I can?t believe there?s a professional chef running this kitchen or participating at any cooking station. Not only is the menu ill-conceived, they just don?t seem to have a clue about how food should be prepared.

The service isn?t any more professional than the kitchen staff, and the decor is as frumpy as it gets.

The desserts are supposed to be the strong point. I can only comment on the German chocolate cake I tried. It tasted nothing of chocolate, coconut nor pecan. Rather, it was simply overly sweet; like eating a bowl of sugar.

Perhaps I wouldn?t be so harsh if the place didn?t take itself so seriously. This place makes one wonder if people in Rochester know anything of good food or fine dining. It?s so bad it gives the city a black eye. Everyone would be better off if it would just go out of business.

No place I'd rather be !!!. In all fo Rochester, this place is my favorite! You can go after a night out just for dessert - sure, every one who's anyone in Rochester knows this is where the best desserts can be found. But there is no place finer than Phillip's for a dinner, too. Even my six year old daughter likes to show off her "fancy" dresses and "fancy" manners at that "fancy" restaurant! She always orders the 'Filet Mignon' which is always cooked to perfection. For dessert, she stands in front of the huge glass case and makes the hardest choice of the evening ( the slice of cake she gets usually lasts her three days!). I am a slave to the 'Chicken Maison' but, torn with the 'Shrimp Alexander' (I always special order both with angel hair pasta with no problems), while my husband usually goes for a daily special that is 'fresh in" (usually a seafood dish). The best part is - they offer 'petite' sized portions on many meals that are smaller and less costly (enough for the average person, especially if you plan on ordering dessert). The wine list is extensive and the coffees are far better than anything that Starbucks has to offer. Rumor has it that Stacy and Ellie travelled all over the world fot the 'perfect espresso bean' - did you know she's a dentist!?! (Some of the family stories are soooo interesting). As someone who grew up in 'The Hamptons', it's great to have a place like Phillip's to go to.

Amazing atmosphere, service, food. I don't know what the other review refers to, but it doesn't sound like the same place. We went to Phillips for dessert and got the creme brulee and peanut butter pie. Both were delicious! The creme brulee was not heated all the way through but it was still tasty. The menu is so big you are sure to find something that suits you. The atmosphere is amazing, very romantic. You are able to carry on a conversation without hearing every other person around you because the restaurant is broken up into rooms. The waitstaff was very polite and attentive, even though we only had dessert. Eager to try dinner!

not even worthy of a star. The atmosphere is frozen in a 1980's prom completed by the green comber buns the wait staff wore. the menu was lifted strait from a holiday inn buffet. as for the food....everything was either overcooked, freezer burned, from a can or completely unseasoned. we barely touched our inedible food and gladly handed it over to the busser who did not even question the fact that nothing was touched.
