I have never, in my 30 years of pet ownership EVER been to such an amazing animal hospital. The receptionist are on the ball and very kind and personable to your emotions (they have a heart). The techs are thorough in going over the reason for today's visit. And the doctor's stop an NOTHING to find o ut what is going on with your pet....they don't stop until they have answers and treatments that are appropriate for YOUR PET! I have a sense of strong communication skills between all the departments which gives them such a powerful team. Dr Hairema, Dr Broten, Dr Maier and Dr Hawkins are the meaning of perfection was it comes to finding the perfect vet. I will continue to go there and have recommend many to Penfield Animal Hospital!

I had a germane Shepard dog who I had to put to sleep at the age of three and half about two weeks ago. He was born with many problem's and should of been put to sleep at birth. But Dr. Harama was wonderful and exhausted every and all options before we had to put my dog to sleep. I can not say enough about how wonderful they were and still are with my pets. From the phone calls to taking the time to show me how much they care about there pets there. I do not think I would of gotten the level of care and service any place else. I highly recommend them.

I took my kitten here after adopting him from a local shelter. He had a cold and was beginning to decline quickly so I brought him here. The vet recommended he be euthanized as, he said, his prognosis was grim, medical care would be very expensive, and he assumed he probably had some immune disease because he was so sick and had obviously been in a cat fight (since he had cuts on his face). He also told me there would be other health consequences later on because he was so sick assuming he even did survive. I chose to ignore the vets recommendation and assumptions and insisted he be hospitalized and treatment started. After a meager $200 hospital bill and few days stay he was able to come home. The vet insisted on doing blood work to rule out the immune diseases and all came back normal. This was a good idea, but the way it was handled caused me a lot of stress. I should have been told this was just a routine procedure to make sure there were no immune diseases instead of telling me that he most likely had one and that's why he should be tested. After day 1 in the hospital he was still given a grim prognosis--granted the little guy was struggling for a while, but give his immune system a chance to work! Needless to say the vet was wrong all the way around. He is now a happy, healthy cat! Other than his routine visits, he has only been to the vet once for minor eye irritation due to seasonal allergies which cleared up quickly with eye drops. Although I was not happy with the way the vet initially handled this situation, he did receive good treatment while at the hospital.
